JNOG club of the French Optical Society (SFO)
The first "French Colloquium on single mode transmissions" was held in 1980 in Issy les Moulineaux near Paris, with 15 attendees. The initial goal was to "promote a quick diffusion of information on single mode optical fibers". Then, this event was repeated every year until 1984, when it transformed into " Journées Nationales d'Optique Guidée (JNOG)", (i.e. French Conference on Guided-wave Optics) with view to better reflect the growing interests in guided optics. Since then, JNOG is an annual conference organized by the "Club JNOG" of the French Optical Society, exhibiting a strong academic and/or industrial network in the field of guided-wave optics. During 3 to 4 days, JNOG brings together about 150-200 attendees from the french-speaking scientific community working on optical fibers, integrated optics, optical fibre or semi-conductor lasers, nanophotonics, components and systems for guided-wave optics, etc. The wide range of related applications, especially those resonating with optical communications and sensors, is also within the scope of the conference. Overall, JNOG gives delegates the opportunity to review the recent progress in academic and industrial research. It is also a unique opportunity for doctoral students and young researchers to enter the world of photonics by presenting their first talks in a stimulating and friendly atmosphere.
